With the iPhone 4S capable of taking extremely good macro shots, there has been some quality apps released in the App Store that take advantage of that extraordinary camera. That brings me to the app I'm reviewing today. 

WorldCard Mobile by by Penpower Technology is a powerhouse of a business card scanner/contact builder application for the iPhone 4S.

A lot has been said (and speculated) about the screen size of the next generation iPhone. I would like to share my thoughts on the subject.

The overall device will not get wider, thicker, or taller. However the screen size will be bumped to right at 4 inches. Contrary to what some may think, the extra screen real estate will not be used to increase the current 960 x 640 currently available to app developers. That will stay the same for the sake of developer sanity. No, the extra screen real estate will be used for some amazing new UI enhancements and new interface controls.

If you use the built-in note application on your iOS device, you may have noticed the limited functionality. But I thought I would share with you a couple tips on getting better organized with your notes if you also use a Mac. 

This summer, the general public will have access to better note integration thanks to the announced Mountain Lion OS. Until then, there are a couple of tips I would like to share with you now that you can take advantage of right now.

There are tons of great apps in the App Store. So it's no wonder that many of us face the problem of cluttered home screens filled with apps we haven't used in some time. Our organization process over time loses it's structure and we find ourselves eventually just getting frustrated and annoyed. Sure we could use Spotlight to find the app we are looking for, but with hundreds of apps, we often forget the name of the app we are looking for and it could actually be found easier if we could just locate that darn icon we are so familiar with. But which folder did I put it in? And which page was it on? Did I file it under reference or utility? Entertainment or Media? Documents or Productivity? 

There has to be a method to this madness. Well with my recent purchase of a (2nd) iPhone 4S, I decided I would really try to get a handle on the situation. If you need help in this area, just follow the steps below.

Sometimes my love of technology gets in the way of me actually enjoying technology.

Just two weeks ago, it was just a regular work day. I was working on some spreadsheets on my MacBook Air when I pulled a wireless number keypad out of my laptop bag and it slipped out if my hands and flew directly into the screen of my 11" MacBook Air. As I pulled my jaw off the floor, I looked at my MacBook with its cracked display and decided that it was time to upgrade.

I honestly think AirPlay is a sleeper technology that Apple is slowly evolving to make a wireless iOS dock. AirPlay continually gets better and now Mountain Lion is scheduled to incorporate more AirPlay features. I think it’s only a matter of time before the AppleTV gets a new name and just becomes AirPlay Dock.

I couldn't agree more Gabe. I like to think of a future where any monitor connected to the Apple TV AirPlay Dock can act as a full fledged monitor for an iPad or even an iPhone. I think one problem Apple has to solve is input to this iOS computer. I tweeted on February 20th

@JNGold I would love apple to support a cursor when you are AirPlay mirroring. Then a keyboard/touchpad dock from apple.

I think Gabe and myself have it right. Apple should support a simple white circle on the AirPlay mirrored screen to represent where your finger is just like they have used in keynote presentations in the past. I also think that if Apple implements this they could support the Magic Trackpad as an input device to the iPad truly opening up the possibilities of using your iPad as your only computer.

I did something today I thought I would never do. I gave up my unlimited iPhone data plan for the 5GB WiFi tethering plan. No, I wasn't forced by the now famous AT&T strong-arm tactic of throttling data speeds for people who reach or surpass the 2GB data use limit. From what I understand, those "limits" are subject to regional use patterns and can vary greatly from region to region. I suspect those limits might be a bit higher in NYC as I have never received the dreaded throttling email and I consistently use at least 2-4GB on a monthly basis.

2012 is upon us and the start of a new year is when many people like to make changes that will enrich their lives. This show is an insight to how we use our mobile devices to help us make us those changes and how our devices assist us in reaching those goals we set for ourselves. The iPhone is much more than a communication or media device. It can also be used as a helpful tool in monitoring our health condition and active lifestyles.

Our Nutrition/Fitness Goals for 2012

Clay - I set a goal to lose 50 pounds by July 12th of this year. I am a father now and I want to set a good example for my child and I want to be an active parent as my daughter grows up. I am proud to say I have lost 15 of those 50 pounds and I look forward to sharing with you how my iPhone has helped me thus far. Jerry - As a Type I insulin-dependent diabetic for over 40 years, I strive to manage the various aspects of my life, including Blood Glucose levels, diet, exercise, etc. From my days of using Palm OS thru Windows Mobile, and now the iPhone, I have been active in seeking out the best applications to help me manage my diabetes.
